US Aviation Academy in Denton, Texas was recently awarded the contract for the Department of Transportation’s Forces to Flyer’s initiative for the Southwest Region. Books and supplies will also be at the veteran’s expense. Initially, we will be taking a cohort of four (4) students with an anticipated start date of mid-July. This is an accelerated, full time program that earns the following licenses and ratings:
- Private Pilot
- Instrument Rating
- Commercial Multi Engine and Single Engine
- Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
- CFI – Instrument
During the course, you will be expected to train full time. US Aviation defines full time as 40+ hours per week. Training every weekday between 8am-5pm, periodically at night, and weekends should be expected. The course is anticipated to take at least 12 months. The Post 9/11 GI Bill cannot be used to pay for living expenses under this program. Please plan accordingly to use personal funds, external support, or part-time employment for living costs.
You may see US Aviation’s training fleet in the gallery or on our fleet page. Training takes place in Cessna and Piper aircraft. If you are not comfortable in small aircraft, we strongly encourage you come take a discovery flight at US Aviation or a local flight school before applying.
